1. Challenge: Players form words from a jumbled shuffled deck of letters and points, igniting a thrilling battle of linguistic prowess. Each letter has a point value. Blanks are worth 1 point. Think of the highest scoring word, spell it and play it.
2. Shuffle the deck at least 4 times. Deal 7 cards to each player.
3. Play solo or with an opponent or in teams. If playing in teams one is the leader, and the others help. Dealer goes first then the person to the right of the dealer goes next.
4. Keep cards faced down, until it is your turn, then place them face side up (showing letters or blanks) from left to right on the table or game board.
5. You have two minutes to think of a word to play.
6. Word Rules: 1. No abbreviations, acronyms, or apostrophes. No proper nouns 2. Foreign words are allowed if not proper nouns. 3. Hyphenated words are allowed (e.g., shuffle-it).
7. Discarding: Players may discard any number of cards once per round, placing them face down. Dealer replaces any discarded cards. Player then forms a word. If they can’t form one, note it on the scorecard, and the next player/team takes their turn. The dealer gathers discarded cards at the end of each round, adds them to the deck and reshuffles.
8. Scoring Words:
Calculate points from Letter and Blank Cards used in the word and enter them in the “Word score” column.
Add bonus points to the “Total Bonus Points” column.
Combine “Word Score” + “Total Bonus Points” for the “Total Word Score”.
Sum all “Total Word Scores” for the “Total Game Score”.
9. Bonus Points:
add 10 points for a 7-letter word
add 20 points for a 10-letter word
add 40 points for the “Word of the Day” (minimum 5 letters with blanks, or 4 letters without). No limit on scoring this.
10. Word or Phrase Twist. Deal 10-13 cards per player on the tabletop. All the same word rules apply, but instead of forming just one word, form a word or phrase in two minutes (for example: “make it count” or “holy moley”).
Bonus Points
add 30 points for a 13+ letter word
